Hi, I’m Amanda, aka Piercer Lady. This name was given to me by a 6-year-old client, who was very excited about her new earlobe piercings and informed me matter-of-factly, “You’re a great piercer lady.” Who am I to argue?
A little bit about me. I am a maker of many things: Artistic holes in the human body, painting, resin casting, knitting, graphic design, multimedia compilations. I didn’t start with the intention of becoming a piercer, it wasn’t a career I thought you could realistically have. My degree is in Advertising Art (graphic design) and while, I absolutely love art, I realized I didn’t want to work in an office, but I needed a job- one that wouldn’t make me take out my piercings (I’ve always loved piercing and had amassed a collection throughout college). After working in a studio for a while, I was offered the opportunity for an apprenticeship. Turned out, I’m pretty good at piercing, so I’m going to do this until I can’t anymore. At least, I can design my own logo and top-notch business cards.
Why I love what I do: Body piercing is an artistic expression of the self. So often in this world we feel out of control, piercing offers us a way to control the one thing that is truly our own, our body. Whether it’s a way to reclaim, release, discover, or simply adorn, piercing holds a special place in the human heart and has a long, rich history- people have been altering themselves since the beginning of time! So, whatever your reasons, I am happy to help you on your journey.
